It was only just a couple of years ago that the Mazda CX-3 was first introduced to the market, making its debut at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show before becoming a production model for the 2016 model year. Now it’s an integral part of the Mazda lineup, and we’re pleased to offer it here at Fairway. But considering how increasingly popular the subcompact crossover segment has become in the past few years, the CX-3 has a ton of competition in its segment, so we thought we’d see how it measures up against one of its biggest competitors.
With that in mind, we’ve decided to pit the 2019 Mazda CX-3 vs 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. To do this, we built the table just below so that you can get a good idea of how the fair against one another in a side-by-side comparison. With just one glance, you can see that the two crossovers are quite comparable to one another, but each has its clear advantages.
Working our way through the table row by row, we’ll start with fuel efficiency as that’s where the first two rows go. When driving through the city, the CX-3 will be able to travel an extra six miles on every gallon fuel you use, which means you’ll be saving quite a bit of money at the pump over time. Even hopping onto the highway you’ll be saving, as it gets an extra five miles to the gallon there as well.
When it comes to power, the two crossovers are nearly identical. While the Crosstrek does deliver an extra 4 horsepower, the CX-3 fires back with an extra pound-foot of torque. Neither of these advantages will be particularly noticeable, but you’ll certainly notice the extra 8.4 cubic feet of space behind the back seats. That is one aspect that the Crosstrek is no doubt superior to the CX-3.
If you can overlook the space deficit in favor of saving at the gas station, then get in touch with us to take a CX-3 for a spin yourself.
