How Mazda Revolutionized Safety

By Admin | Posted in on Thursday, January 12th, 2017 at 9:01 PM

mazMazda is well-known in the automotive industry for its impressive safety features and innovative technology. Take a look at how this manufacturer has revolutionized safety by combining both elements to bring you some of the best and most reliable vehicles on the market.

i-ACTIVSENSE

Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE is a series of safety systems designed to improve driver performance. You’ll find features such as the Adaptive Front-lighting System and the High-Beam Control System, both of which aim to increase visibility on the road by monitoring your vehicle’s headlights. With Forward Obstruction Warning, Rear Vehicle Monitoring, and Lane Departure Warning, your car will notify you of nearby hazards and keep your focus where it needs to be.

This collection also includes Acceleration Control for AT, which prevents your vehicle from moving forward if you accidentally press the accelerator and Smart Brake Support systems that automatically activate the brakes when at risk of a collision.

Active Safety Technology

Adding to the amenities listed above, Active Safety Technology includes Adaptive LED Headlights with three available modes to improve visibility when driving at night, a Driver Attention Alert that uses the Multi-Information Display to control erratic driving due to fatigue, and additional safety features such as Blind Spot Monitoring, Hill Launch Assist, and stability and traction control.

Mazda’s i-ACTIV AWD system is also included and provides drivers with excellent handling and control on all road conditions while maintaining fuel efficiency. Lastly, you’ll experience improved performance with the 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Braking System, which prevents vehicles from slipping while braking and makes it easier to avoid obstacles on the road.

Intelligent Transport Systems

Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) have the potential to reduce road collisions with vehicle-to-vehicle, street-to-vehicle, and pedestrian-to-vehicle communication. Since 1991, Mazda has pushed forward with this innovative technology in the hopes of increasing driver safety, and over the years it has proved successful. With an interactive Human Machine Interface (HMI), drivers are able to reduce blind spots as well as recognize potential road hazards that can’t otherwise be detected with a camera or radar.

Passive Safety Technology

Mazda has also equipped its vehicles with a host of amenities to keep drivers and passengers safe during a collision. First, you’ll feel at ease with the durable SKYACTIV-BODY frame, SRS Air Bag System, and seat belt with pretensioner, which all combine to offer protection to passengers. Additionally, the Impact-Absorbing Steering System limits the steering wheel’s impact on the driver, while the Anti-Intrusion Brake Pedal reduces damage to the leg area by shifting the pedals back during a crash.

To keep your little ones and rear passengers safe, you’ll appreciate the standard seat anchors available to securely fasten your child’s car seat and the rear-seat smart structure designed to support the body following a collision. Finally, and with pedestrian safety in mind, the impact-absorption bonnet and bumpers are in place to reduce the severity of bodily injury to pedestrians if hit by a vehicle.

When it comes to keeping you and your family protected, there’s certainly no shortage of impressive technology systems and safety features available with Mazda vehicles.

How Mazda Has Improved Fuel Efficiency With Its SKYACTIV Technology

By Admin | Posted in Uncategorized on Thursday, December 15th, 2016 at 5:34 PM

skyactivIn order to stay competitive in a challenging marketplace, leading automakers realize it’s necessary to continually improve the cars in their inventory. Some of the alterations are cosmetic and include streamlined shapes that boost aerodynamics. Over time, manufacturers have also added full suites of autonomous safety features that prevent crashes with limited input from drivers.

Fuel efficiency has also been an area of continuous improvement. Although numerous car companies have turned their attention towards creating hybrid cars and even fully electric vehicles, Mazda is different, because it has tweaked its traditional engines using used what’s known as SKYACTIV technology.

All-Encompassing, Fuel Efficient Designs

Mazda doesn’t cut corners when equipping one of its cars with SKYACTIV technology. Engineers carefully analyze every square inch of the vehicle, from the transmission to the body shape, and determine whether all of the components are sufficiently designed to work together for optimal gas mileage. As soon as you get behind the wheel of a Mazda, it’ll be clear you’re sitting in a high-tech, well-designed car. Later, when you realize you don’t need to go to the gas station as often with a Mazda, you’ll appreciate the manufacturer’s foresight even more.

Greater Fuel Efficiency From Gasoline Engines

When making gasoline-powered vehicles that work with SKYACTIV technology, Mazda focuses on ensuring that each car gets the most out of every drop of fuel put into it and defying previously known concepts about fuel combustion. More specifically, if you buy a Mazda car that has SKYACTIV-G technology and a 2.0- or 2.5-liter engine, it’s engine will have a higher compression ratio than normal engines. The SKYACTIV engines are able to squeeze the air-fuel blend in the engine’s cylinders to a much greater degree than usual, which means the fuel in the tank provides an impressive amount of energy for the car.

Take Your Pick of Two Transmissions

When buying a new car, you deserve to have choices. Fortunately, when in the market for a Mazda, you can choose between one of two SKYACTIV transmissions that also do their part to give better gas mileage.

For starters, there’s the SKYACTIV-MT, which is a six-speed manual transmission. It has a short-throw operation that’s similar to what you’d find in a Mazda MX-5 Miata.

Alternatively, you can go with the SKYACTIV Drive six-speed automatic transmission. Enjoy how smoothly it shifts into gear and feel the smooth acceleration as you pick up speed. The enhanced precision offered through this technology not only makes applicable Mazdas more fun to drive but also means they use gas more efficiently.

A Strong but Lightweight Car

When driving a Mazda that features SKYACTIV technology, you’ll love how the car is very sturdy yet impressively nimble. Those characteristics are true because of a body and chassis that are lighter than models without SKYACTIV engineering. At the same time, the car’s frame includes ultra-high-tensile-strength steel in certain areas. As a result, the car has increased stiffness in sections where that matters most, which translates to better stability on the road, especially at high speeds.

Now that you have an overview of what SKYACTIV technology offers, take the next step towards owning a car that includes it. Just schedule a test drive at Fairway Mazda.

What’s New on the 2017 Mazda 3

By Admin | Posted in Uncategorized on Thursday, December 8th, 2016 at 5:29 PM

3Whether you’re already a fan of the Mazda 3 or checking it out for the first time, the 2017 model is sure to impress. Mazda keeps the best features from previous models, adds new technology, and tweaks the overall design, making this vehicle both beautiful and powerful.

Improved Powertrain

The Mazda 3 keeps the same two engine choices: a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder machine and a 2.5-liter, inline-four machine. As before, both engines can be paired with either a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. However, these engines are more efficient for 2017 thanks to new technology: SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring control. Included with all models, this system reduces the torque when you’re turning corners, making for more responsive steering.

For improved fuel efficiency, you can get a regenerative engine braking system with the i-ELOOP package. The system improves the engine’s efficiency by capturing kinetic energy when you brake or decelerate, turning it into electricity and using that energy to power electric equipment such as the headlights and the radio.

Updated Exterior

Subtle changes to the exterior give the Mazda 3 a more aggressive look. All models have a new front fascia and a reshaped grille. Five-door models have a new rear bumper, and LED fog lights are now available for Grand Touring models.

Three color options have been removed from the 2017 line to make room for three new colors: Sonic Silver Metallic, Eternal Blue Mica, and Machine Gray Metallic. Mazda is touting Machine Gray Metallic as its new signature paint; three colors are strategically layered to make the vehicle look like a solid piece of steel. Its appearance is just as powerful as its engine.

New Interior Options

The Mazda 3 already has a great interior design, so any upgrades are icing on the cake. Extra sound insulation and improved damping make the cabin quieter than before. A heated steering wheel is now available, and the head-up display is now full-color. Other changes include leatherette or perforated leather seating for the upper trim levels, an electronic parking brake, and a new interior color option: parchment leather.

The 2017 model carries available features such as Bluetooth technology, an infotainment system with voice command, and a nine-speaker Bose surround sound system with Centerpoint 2. A new premium equipment package allows you to add on features such as paddle shifters on the steering wheel and bi-LED headlights with auto leveling.

New Safety Features

When equipped with Smart City Brake Support, the 2017 Mazda 3 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus. Included in the upper trim levels, the Smart City Brake Support feature detects objects ahead of the vehicle and prepares the brakes so you can stop faster. If you don’t stop in time, the brakes will automatically do that for you. Also available is a new package that uses i-ACTIVSENSE technology, which recognizes traffic signs.

The usual safety features are carried forward, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning.

The 2017 Mazda 3 has plenty to offer. It combines a powerful engine, a comfortable interior, and a handsome appearance without sacrificing safety. See it for yourself and head over to a car dealership today.

Why You Should Plan a Winter Staycation in Savannah

By Admin | Posted in Uncategorized on Thursday, December 1st, 2016 at 5:22 PM

staycayWinter is traditionally a time when people get in their cars to take long trips, whether to go on vacations, visit relatives, or both. However, if you live in Savannah, it’s a good idea to consider boldly breaking from tradition and remaining around your hometown while taking a staycation. People love staycations, especially because they’re often cheaper than trips that are further away from home — plus they give a renewed appreciation of the area where you live. Keep reading to learn how to have a super staycation in Savannah.

You Can Stay Along the River

Even if you’re not traveling far from home, there are still good reasons to book a short hotel stay. One of them is that you can enjoy gorgeous scenery that you may not be as aware of when you’re at home. The Savannah Regency Hyatt is one example of a hotel offering a splendid Savannah accommodation spot, complete with stunning scenery. Book a room that gives you views of the river, and stretch out to enjoy the sights on your comfy bed.

While you’re there, go to the appropriately named Windows Restaurant, which features huge windows through which you can enjoy picturesque views while eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Be sure to bring a camera, and prepare to get lots of cool snapshots.

There Are Fewer Crowds

Winter is the off-season in Savannah, so whether you want to take a trolley tour through the Old Town district or book a table at a restaurant that’s typically quite crowded, doing both of those things (and others) should be much easier. Speaking of trolley tours, you can embark on a special winter journey by going on one of the holiday trolley excursions. Besides the chance to view vibrant Christmas lights and other festive decorations, you’ll get to sip warm drinks while admiring the area.

Because Savannah is not as crowded during the winter, some establishments may have different operating hours than what you expect. To avoid disappointment, make contact before you arrive to verify schedule specifics.

Get Holiday Shopping Done Near the River

If you’re coming to Savannah just before the holidays but don’t have your holiday shopping done yet, there’s no need to worry. Maybe you hate the mere thought of going into a shopping mall and battling the crowds as you look for all those must-have gifts for people on your list. Make a refreshing change by visiting some of the riverfront merchants that set up their wares along the river.

Some vendors even sell special holiday items, so if you’re in the mood for more decorations to enhance your home, the riverfront could be the place to buy them. Also, keep an eye out for food vendors, live music performers, and more. This unconventional shopping destination could become your new holiday favorite, especially because it’s drastically different from the stressful situations you’re likely to find by shopping in the more highly trafficked places.

Hopefully you’re now feeling tempted to get more acquainted with Savannah by taking a staycation this year. Continue the planning process and mark your calendar to choose the dates of your trip.
